Published Nov 02, 2018Last night (November 1),?Broad City?star Ilana Glazer was scheduled for a talk at Murmrr Theatre, an event space located in Brooklyn's Union Temple. But the event was cancelled when anti-Semitic graffiti was discovered at the venue.
As the?New York Times?reports, a series of hateful phrases were written at various locations throughout the temple. The police department's Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident.
The hateful phrases written around the synagogue included "Die Jew rats,"?"We are here," "Hitler," "Jew Better Be Read" and "End it now."
Naturally, organizers felt unsafe and pulled the plug on the show. If it had gone ahead as planned, it would have featured Glazer in conversation with?Democracy Now!'s Amy Goodman.
Glazer appeared on the show today to discuss what happened. You can listen below. The relevant section begins at the 49:37 mark.
This hate crime comes less than a week after 11 people were murdered while attending a service at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.
